Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and this year, the one true romance in our life is our love affair with food. We at Chew Haven are more concerned with what we are going to eat on Valentine’s Day than who we are going to eat with. For those that may not have long-planned-in-advance plans with their loved ones, we have listed some heart-warming food options for February 14 below:
Best Restaurants to Eat at Alone
Given Book Trader’s work café environment, it’s really easy to make a meal at Book Trader look like a working meal…even if you are not working at all. Just flip open your computer, maybe pull up some Netflix, and grab a soup, side, or sandwich to keep you company. Some of our favorite sandwiches include Vonnegut’s Veggies and the Tempesto.
You can eat alone and feel good about yourself for eating something that at least seems healthy. Grab an icing shot on the way out.
York St. Noodle House
If you can’t be warmed by love, how about being warmed by a big bowl of noodles? Noodles, noodles, and more noodles…. Easy on the eyes and the wallet.
Sushi on Chapel
…if you want the entire world to know how alone you are.
Louis will keep you company while you eat. If what warms your heart is rare beef, this is the place for you. Grab a seat in the old wooden benches and wait patiently for Louis.
Far enough from campus that it’s not too scene-y, dark and smokey enough that no one can see you anyways. We hear that hookahs make really nice companions and falafel makes a really good dinner. Who needs true love anyways when you have apple smoke billowing out of your nostrils?
Best Foods to Order In While Watching Netflix
Warm pita, crispy falafel, maybe some fries? How would you like the bachelor to go with that?
For the vegetarians out there, we’re a huge fan of the General Tso’s Tofu, Spicy Garlic Eggplant, and the Chinese Broccoli with oyster sauce. Substitute meat in there to beef up your night.
Order in mashed potato pizza and the well-known Bar Salad. Nothing goes with TV and self-deprecation as well as a greasy slice of pizza.
The Toasted Almond with Coconut is an Arethusa classic. Get it in waffle cone. Experience tells us that ice cream is a good cure for the pain of loneliness.
Icing shots from Claire’s
Bubbie’s Mochi Ice Cream from Hawaii @ Durfee’s or Jake’s Diggity Dogs
Imported from Hawaii, they almost taste like sunshine and warm air. Soft, chewy mochi with flavorful ice cream in the middle — these delicious dessert gems satisfy any sweet tooth.
Big Ass Cookie from Anchor Spa
Fresh Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Chocolate Sauce, Caramel & Walnuts. Need I say more? Thank god you don’t have to share this with a date and can enjoy this big-ass cookie one on one.
